Kimberly Kimbrough Biography

Bio of Kimberly Kimbrough
Currently, I work as a Web Design Project Manager for a major player in the online web design industry.
I love my job but I am not using my SEO skills which is my passion so I still expand on those skills, as well as, web design and development skills on a personal basis.

I have more than 72 websites on the web in various niche markets that I built on my own. Some of my websites have a higher value to me personally and so they get more attention, but it is safe to say that every website generates income due in part to the search engine optimization and the search engine marketing of each website. Sometimes, I feel like a penguin juggling balls. I am just juggling websites. I work on them when I feel like it.

I have published several ebooks and have been a professional speaker on search engine optimization techniques, search engine marketing, and the digital divide. Additionally, I am a professional speaker during Black History Month at local schools in the Kansas City area. I also have been the keynote speaker at Universities. I am usually invited by student organizations and have spoken in Texas an North Dakota

I owned my own web hosting, domain registration and web design company called MoDomains. But after doing this full-time for several years, I wore myself out and had to stop.

I do not consider myself a geek or nerd, but in high school, I graduated in the top 5% of my graduating class and was a graduation speaker. I received a full-ride to Drury University due to my academics.

I was the Coordinator of Meetings for the Missouri Association of Realtors (2004 to 2006), which was my first professional job and where I began my love of the Internet.

I became a Convention Sales Manager for the Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau (1996 to 2000)and the Director wrote that I was the most successful Convention Sales Manager in the history of the bureau. After I left, they hired two people to become Convention Sales Manager to fill my shoes.

I graduated in August 2003 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Information from William Woods University. I am the first person to graduate college in my family. Shortly thereafter, I moved to the Kansas City metropolitan area with my daughter and $2000. Since that time, I have worked many small little jobs not having found security or stability in this area. The Overland Park and Kansas City job market seems to be very segmented. You have to know someone to get a job or be their friend. Or you have to look a certain way to fit into this market. It is somewhat of a snobby job market. And you can beat your head against a wall or do like I did, got fed up and started my own company. And it worked until I got my business to the greatest point that one person could take it.

But now, I work smarter and not harder. Whereas most people complain about 40 hour work weeks and growl when they are asked to work overtime, I consider a 55 hour work week to be easy compared to owning my own business.

I like associating myself with people who have ideas and implement them. I do not want to be around complainers or pretenders. I am as real as they come. I have very little reason to compromise because I am pretty straight and narrow. I had to separte myself from people close to me who do not understand the value of education and taking positive risks.l I am assertive, dynamic, multi-talented, educated, experienced, and a success in almost everything that I have done. I am hoping, however, to find my “destination” career in the Overland Park area but open to other locations if Kansas continues to not be a perfect fit.

I am an avid supporter of the Blue Valley School District and I love my community and my friends.
