According to CNET, Microsoft has published a white paper on a new product it calls BrowseRank. Essentially BrowseRank is meant to offer a beefed up analysis of a page’s popularity by accounting for how long a user stays on the page as well as other behavioral data points.

The move comes a day after Microsoft announced a big search deal with Facebook to help promote its struggling Live Search product. It also comes amid reports that Microsoft is finally done with Yahoo.

“There’s nothing under discussion between the two of us,” Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said in reference to the failed Yahoo talks.

In the meantime, Google isn’t standing still. The search giant announced that it is planning to launch new PageRank values in the next few days.
