Pay Per Click Advertising:  An Overview

Pay Per Click (PPC) search engine advertising is an online advertising program that allows an advertiser to pay only when a visitor clicks a link on their website.  PPC can generate traffic and conversion rates but not as well as a solid organic search engine optimization plan.  In order to get the right mix of search engine optimization and PPC, working with an experienced online marketing strategist is a smart move.

Pay Per Click Online Advertising
In Pay Per Click Advertising, website operators are able to bid on keywords and keyword phrases and pay for placement in search results. The search results are usually at the very top of the page or on the right side of the page.  Advertisers pay for each time a click on a sponsored ad results in a website visit and that visitor is hopefully a targeted visitor who wants their products or services. PPC programs are beneficial for websites that want an immediate search engine result.  But keyword costs will undoubtedly increase over time as some experts say that it increases by up to 20% to 30%.

Problems with Pay Per Click
Pay Per Click advertisers must deal with click fraud.  Competitors will click on an advertiser’s ads repeatedly knowing that they will never make a conversion.  A conversion is when a visitor makes a specific decision to call, complete a form, subscribe to a newsletter, make a purchase, etc.  15%-30% of click-throughs are fraudulent, conducted either by click and impression software created just for this purpose or by actual human beings. There are even thousands of companies in India and other locations that can be hired to click on competitor websites.

Pay Per Click Summary
Pay Per Click programs can provide a website with an immediate boost in results. However, as soon as the budget runs out or the campaign ends, the results cease. With an organic search engine optimization campaign developed by a professional search engine marketing custom website development professional like Kimberly Kimbrough, the results will not cease.
