Google + Basic Strategies

Use Google+Local –Google+ should be used to generate reviews/testimonials.  Google reviews drive up site ranking, and the threshold to aim for is 30 reviews.  At that point, your most-popular pages get ranked higher and your homepage listing will receive additional site links and ranking for all targeted keywords.  Simply linking to Google+ review page from confirmation pages on site forms and including a link within your emails will reinforce the importance of testimonials.

·         Sharing on Google+ and encouraging others to +1 your content is similar to FB likes or Twitter retweets, but has more of an impact because Google Search favors sites that have received more social credibility than others, and as a Google app, Google+ receives favored status over other social apps and is completely open to Google to crawl, unlike Facebook and Twitter, which prevent Google from accessing a significant portion of their data.

·         Insertion of site links directly into your G+ posts increases the value of those posts, especially as the frequency of link clicks and post shares increases – this is treated just like a typical backlink for SEO purposes.  Additionally, these links are optimized for search engines – when a link is shared on G+, the anchor text becomes the title of the page you are sharing.  High link equity (SEO value) is inherent in these “in-post” links.

·         According to Searchmetrics, social signals (recommendations through Likes, tweets, & Google+) account for 7 out of 8 most highly correlated ranking factors in Google search results, with Google +1’s having the highest correlation, followed by the number of backlinks, Facebook shares, and Facebook total insights (shares, comments, and likes).

·         Google+ pages are treated just like regular websites with PageRank and are crawled and indexed immediately.

·         Google+ posts can indefinitely retain ranking, enabling brands to capture and retain higher search share.

·         Google+ Local can be combined with Google Authorship to give you enhanced visibility on the content you create and copy you write, connecting your publishing platform (blog, CMS website) to your Google+ profile.

·         Use Google+ Timing to determine the optimal times to share your posts on Google+ to drive engagement and post popularity.
